- Traditional, sweet dessert wine from the ancient vineyard on the Possessioni estate. A classic blend of Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara grapes, laid out for the winter to rest on bamboo racks in drying lofts during the appassimento process. On the nose, intense aromas of cherries are preserved in spirit and walnuts. On the palate, sweet, super-ripe cherries and hints of plum jam with spices and elegant tannins.
This traditional, sweet dessert wine comes from the ancient Casal dei Ronchi vineyard on the Possessioni Serego Alighieri estate. It is a classic blend of Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara grapes, laid out for the winter to rest on bamboo racks in drying lofts during the Appassimento process. | Winery | This estate was bought in 1353 by the son of Dante “Divine Comedy” Alighieri and is still owned by his descendants; Masi lend their winemaking expertise. Cool vineyards near Lake Garda give wonderful richness and clarity to the flavours, and an extra twist comes from the use of traditional cherry wood barrels for the reds (except the Recioto), imparting a unique spicy quality. The Valpolicella dell’Anniversario was released to celebrate the 650th anniversary of the estate; selected from the best hillside vineyards and given added depth and complexity through double fermentation, it is a masterful wine. |
