- extraordinary power and complexity: a classic in the Italian winemaking portfolio. It is intense and elegant, with hints of fruit preserved in spirit, dried plums, and cocoa. It is well-structured and well-balanced, with silky tannins and a long finish revealing ripe cherries and sweet spices.
This estate was bought in 1353 by the son of Dante “Divine Comedy” Alighieri and is still owned by his descendants; Masi lends their winemaking expertise. Cool vineyards near Lake Garda give the flavours wonderful richness and clarity, and an extra twist comes from traditional cherry wood barrels for the reds (except the Recioto), imparting a unique spicy quality.
