Winery | The grapes come from a single plot within the Chambertin Grand Cru appellation. The vines are planted on an average gradient of 8%. They are located at an elevation of 280 metres above sea level, where the continental climate offers warm sunny days and cool nights, naturally imparting balancing acidity to the grapes. The soils are made up of clay and limestone, with a layer of thin stones, which offer an ideal balance of water retention properties from the clay, while the limestone imbues the wines with elegance. Cultivated according to traditional methods, the vines are planted at a density of 10,000 vines per hectare. They are pruned, retaining a large and aerated canopy for sun protection during the warmer vintages of late. They are sustainably farmed with practices such as using fresh compost from local farms to nourish the vines. General treatments include copper and sulphur, and mechanical ploughing occurs to maintain the vineyard soils. Hand harvested. |
