Sylvain Debord Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2021
Sylvain Debord Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2021 – Buy Premium Burgundy Pinot Noir
A Rare & Exquisite Grand Cru Pinot Noir from Burgundy
Discover the exceptional quality of Sylvain Debord Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2021, a fine French red wine crafted in the heart of Burgundy. Produced from 100% Pinot Noir, this Grand Cru offering is an expression of elegance and power, with a vintage shaped by climatic extremes that yielded a wine of remarkable character and finesse.
This vintage opens with expressive aromas of red cherry, ripe plum, and delicate violet, which unfold into a seamlessly balanced palate. Soft, plush tannins are beautifully integrated, supporting layers of fruit and floral notes, leading to a long, exquisite finish. With a medium body (Body Value: C) and a clean, dry style (Residual Sugar: 0), this wine is a top choice for Pinot Noir connoisseurs and collectors.
The Challenging 2021 Vintage – Excellence in Adversity
The 2021 growing season was one of the most challenging in Burgundy’s recent history. After a warm spring and early budburst in March, a devastating frost on April 3rd saw temperatures drop to -7°C, destroying up to 90% of the young shoots. Despite this, flowering resumed at the end of June, followed by a hot summer and optimal rainfall, allowing the remaining grapes to reach ideal maturity. Harvesting began on 23rd September, resulting in a very small but incredibly high-quality yield.

Winery | Planted in 1963, the plot of old vines is in the centre of the Grand Cru Clos de Vougeot vineyard. The hillside plot is on a gradient of around 3% and faces east, which benefits from the gentle morning sun, giving the grapes time to develop complexity, while cooler overnight influences bring balancing acidity. The old vines are gown in complex, stony, deep clay and limestone soils and are densely planted. Cultivated according to the traditional methods, they are maintained with a large and aerated canopy for sun protection in the warmer vintages of late. They are sustainably farmed with practices such as using fresh compost from local farms to nourish the vines. General treatments include copper and sulphur, and mechanical ploughing occurs to maintain the vineyard soils. Hand-harvested at optimum maturity. |
