- Opulent and refined with ripe cherry, raspberry, and hints of spice. A plush tannin structure frames the palate through to a long, resonant finish. Following the challenging 2021, the 2022 season was characterised by abundance and excellence. The season started early, with bud-break taking place at the beginning of April. Flowering in mid-June occurred under sunny and warm weather, followed by a rapid fruit set. Summer was hot and mostly dry, although periodic rain refreshed the vines and soil water. Harvest started on 23rd August, and it was under good conditions, producing concentrated wines with balanced acidity.
Vinified following a philosophy of minimal intervention. Fermentation took place at 30% whole bunch fruit, which added complexity and wild yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks lasting three-and-a-half weeks. Pump-overs took place by gravity, and punch-downs were traditionally performed on foot. Vinification occurred without a cold soak; however, the temperature increased for fermentation's final part. 100% maturation for 14 months in 228-litre barriques from a blend of forests in Central France, 100% new oak.
Opulent and refined with ripe cherry, raspberry and hints of spice. A plush tannin structure frames the palate to a long, resonant finish.

Winery | The Grand Cru Corton le Rognet is a single vineyard located on the eastern slopes of the Montagne de Corton hill, overlooking Ladoix-Serrigny village. The Pinot Noir grapes for this cuvee come from vines planted on a slope of 15 gradients, at 300 meters, where the nights are cool, which helps the grapes build aromatic complexity. The vines flourish in the clay and limestone soils. Cultivated according to the traditional methods, they are maintained with a large and aerated canopy for sun protection in the warmer vintages of late. They are sustainably farmed with practices such as using fresh compost from local farms to nourish the vines. General treatments include copper and sulphur, and mechanical ploughing occurs to maintain the vineyard soils. Hand harvested. |
