- A powerful personality and large structure characterize a red wine as a satisfactory drink. Red mulberry jam and fruit are felt on the nose through aromatic spices and balsamic notes. The palate is warm, soft, and fresh. This beautiful modern example of a historic Sicilian grape offers bright cherry and raspberry aromas combined with some spicy-earthy complexity. The palate is compact and medium-bodied, with plenty of punch and a smooth, supple finish.

Winery | The large Regaleali estate, high in the central Sicilian hills, has been in the hands of the noble Tasca family since 1830. Ever since, the property has been run according to the best principles of the agricultural aristocracy, with one eye firmly on quality and the other on experimentation. Tasca’s large range is the product of the family’s most successful innovations, including short pruning for lower yields, the championing of local Inzolia and Nero d’Avola vines, the introduction of French varieties, and the use of barriques and temperature control. They have also been developing vineyards outside their main base at Regaleali. There is wonderful passito Malvasia made on the Aeolian island of Salina, and more recently, the family established their Tascante estate on the north-facing slopes of Mount Etna. The tradition and terroir of each location are captured with great clarity in the bottle. This is a singularly accomplished and increasingly complete range of Sicilian wines. |
