- A medium-bodied vibrant red with juicy raspberry fruit underpinned by notes of vanilla and green rhubarb through to a dry and tangy finish. Made from an indigenous grape variety from the Alto Adige. The wine boasts a beautiful bouquet of violets and blackberries with hints of cherries and subtle earthy notes. Velvety is textured on the palate with raspberry, dark cherry, dark chocolate, liquorice, and spice, underpinned by a powerful structure and a long finish.
The grapes were destemmed and fermented at 28 to 30°C in stainless steel and cement vats with indigenous and selected yeasts. Malolactic conversion followed fermentation and the wine was then aged for a minimum of six months in cement vats and oak barrels of different dimensions, adding subtle complexity.
This vibrant Lagrein offers layered aromas of violet, blackberry, cherry, and subtle earthy notes. It is velvety smooth, with juicy raspberry, dark cherry, and liquorice underpinned by a powerful structure and a dry, tangy finish.

Winery | The Sudtirol/Alto Adige is the dynamic winegrowing region at the northern end of Italy that combines a brisk Alpine climate, mountain viticulture and complex geology with the brilliance of Mediterranean sunshine. At Cantina Tramin the vineyards are cared for by the many hands of the 300 small growers whose heritage it is to coax the best out of their grapes, culminating in wines that reflect the area's uniqueness. The vines for this wine are trained according to Pergola and Guyot systems on southwestern-facing slopes. They yield 75 hectolitres per hectare. The vineyard soil is made up of clay, calcareous gravel and sand. Cantina Tramin was founded in 1898 and has 310 member winegrowers who follow its strict directives on cultivating the vines. The vineyards are an integral part of the enchanting and picturesque landscape of the Alto-Adige region of Northern Italy and cover 260 hectares on the sunny slopes of the region at altitudes ranging from 250 to 850 metres above sea level. In 2011, Cantina Tramin gained the "Double Stella" award. This is given to a winery for achieving the prestigious "3 Bicchieri" 20 times and is awarded by the Gambero Rosso. |
