- The wine is delightfully aromatic, with elegant floral notes of roses and lilies, as well as herbal undertones and exotic flavours of lychee, mango, and passion fruit. It is rich in flavour and has a refreshing, finely spiced juiciness on the palate. The grapes were gently pressed after a short maceration period. Fermentation occurred with wild and selected yeasts at 18°C in small stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. The wine matured without malolactic conversion in stainless steel tanks to maintain a crisp and fresh style.

Winery | ‘Selida’ is produced with grapes from a selection of vineyards with south-westerly exposure on some of the steepest terraces in the region at 300 to 500 meters above sea level. The climate is characterized by an extreme interplay of sunny days influenced by the Mediterranean climate and cool nights marked by the cold downslope winds from the surrounding mountains. The significant diurnal temperature variation encourages the development of naturally balancing acidity in the resulting wine. The soil comprises calciferous loam with gravel, and the rocky soils contribute to the mineral character. Guyot training of the vines helps to produce a balanced yield. ‘Selida’ comes from Old High German, meaning ‘small farmstead’, and pays tribute to the longstanding culture of smallholdings that still constitute the strength of Cantina Tramin. The grapes are hand-harvested into small bins to preserve the quality of the fruit. |
