- Semillon was the most awarded and recognised person in the Hunter Valley. Tyrrell’s Winemakers Selection Vat 1 Hunter Valley Semillon is sourced from two of the best blocks of Semillon, which have light, sandy, well-drained soils. Vines are planted on their roots and dry-grown. The oldest material was planted in 1923. An inviting nose of citrus and a palate that is the perfect mid-point between power and elegance. Its delicate yet crisp acid profile balances the signature Vat 1 fruit power, resulting in a seamless wine with a clean finish. Poised to enjoy a long life in the cellar.
Handpicked in the early morning hours, the fruit is lightly crushed and pressed before a relatively cool fermentation. The wine then spends minimal time on yeast lees before being bottled early to maintain its freshness. There is no oak fermentation or maturation.
