- The Riverland brings fun to this white wine, with many pineapples and ripe tropical fruit, but there's a salinity to it to bring outrageous refreshment. Lovely Briney, vermouth-esque aromatics, plenty of wormwoods and green olive under Riversand’s trademark whiffs of nectarine and a little grilled almond, too. The slick, oily mouthfeel is there as always, but with a bit more check and balance this year.
- Sun's out, Fiano Fun! River Sand bursts with juicy fruit & creamy texture. Perfect chilled refresher - our daily drinker!
There isn't much we love more than a glass of white wine in the sun, where all you are looking for is something bright, textural and refreshing - with or without food. For us, it's River Sand. From the remarkable organic Bassham Vineyards in Barmera, the heat of the Riverland brings the fun to this wine - and this rendition is still in fine form.
We've always adored this wine's luscious, waxy texture - although that can be said about all our Fiano's, River Sand has always been the shining light. Beautiful wine this year - Lovely frangipani nose with some juicy pineapple, golden kiwi, and apple whiffs, too. That lovely almond kernel signature is all over this wine again, a kind of apricot, nectarine pip thing, all wrapped in that honeyed, oily texture. You could drink this all day by showing some nice acidity to make it all refreshing. So pleasant.

Winery | Unico Zelo is a small winery run by the youthful Brendan and Laura Carter. Still, only in their mid-twenties, this dynamic couple has been making wine under the Unico Zelo label for the last seven years, taking their inspiration from their intense passion for their native land. The wines are crafted from varieties requiring minimal intervention in the vineyard and the winery. The in-depth study of vineyard sites in South Australia has led them to focus on Italian varieties, such as Fiano and Nero d’Avola, which are perfectly suited to be dry-farmed in the arid Riverland as well as Dolcetto, Nebbiolo and Barbera, which flourish in the inland, continental climate of the Clare Valley. These delicious and unique wines combine sustainability and drinkability to great effect. |
