- A Barbera of remarkable finesse showing notes of ripe red and black cherry, vanilla, and spices through to a full palate with balancing acidity, rich tannins, and a long finish. 2021 was a warm year. A rainy winter with plenty of snow followed a drier spring weather with little rain. The summer was medium-hot, with a rather wet July and an almost summer-like month of September. The wines show great structure and intensity. Potentially an outstanding vintage for ageing, 2021 was rated excellent.

The grapes were carefully selected. Fermentation occurred with selected yeasts in open stainless-steel tanks at temperatures of 26-28°C. The wine underwent maceration for a further week to gently extract colour, flavour, and fine tannins before being transferred to oak, where malolactic conversion occurred. The wine was aged 18 months in French oak barriques, of which 20% were new.
A Barbera of remarkable finesse shows notes of ripe red and black cherry, vanilla, and spices. The palate is full, balancing acidity, rich tannins, and a long finish.

Winery | The grapes are selected from the single vineyard Scarrone in Castiglione Falletto, in the Barbera d'Alba DOC. The vineyard is planted at a density of 6,500 plants per hectare and has a southeastern orientation, which allows the vines to optimize exposure to the warm afternoon summer sun. The soils are rich in limestone and clay, in which the Barbera vines produce elegant and balanced wines. The vines are sustainably cultivated and are manually harvested when the fruit has reached optimum phenolic ripeness. |
