Fourchaume is a 1er Cru vineyard in Chablis. This vineyard has a similar exposure to the Chablis Grand Cru vineyards across the Fontenay Valley, to which Fourchaume wines are often compared. The grapes come from a parcel which includes some 60-year-old vines. The double Guyot-trained vines are planted at a density of 5,700 vines per hectare, yielding a maximum of 55 hectolitres per hectare. The soils are made up of Kimmeridgian, rich in clay and limestone with fossilised sea shells, and are renowned for producing fine wines with mineral characteristics. Domaine Jean Goulley’s vineyard is certified organic.
