- A fresh and charming Chardonnay with floral, honey, and almond aromas leading to a textured palate with lovely balance and subtle minerality through to a smooth finish. Following the challenging 2021, the 2022 season was characterised by abundance and excellence. The season started early, with bud-break taking place at the beginning of April. Flowering in mid-June occurred under sunny and warm weather, followed by a rapid fruit set. Summer was hot and mostly dry, although periodic rain refreshed the vines and soil water, sustaining the vines despite the hot temperatures.
Vinified according to a philosophy of minimal intervention, allowing the variety and terroir to be fully expressed. Fermentation occurred in stainless steel vats at controlled temperatures of 23°C, lasting two weeks. Halfway through fermentation, the wine was transferred to French oak barrels to complete fermentation. Maturation occurred 100% in French oak, comprising 228-litre barriques and 600-litre demi-muids. The wine matured on its lees until the final racking.

Winery | The vines are grown in the Bourgogne Chardonnay appellation, which benefits from a cool, continental climate, where warm sunny days during the ripening period are tempered by cool nights, which imparts a natural balancing acidity to the grapes. The grapes come from plots in the Mâconnais, Cote Chalonnaise, and Cote de Beaune, where the soils vary and offer subtle nuances from each terroir in the resulting blend. The vines are densely planted and cultivated with a large and aerated canopy according to traditional methods. They are sustainably farmed with practices such as using fresh compost from local farms to nourish the vines. General treatments include copper and sulphur, and mechanical ploughing occurs to maintain the vineyard soils. Once the grapes have reached optimum maturity, they are hand-harvested. |
