Oremus Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos Museum Case 1999
- Country Hungary
- Case size 3/50cl
- Intense flavours of ripe peaches and apricots flow seamlessly into a midpalate of stem ginger and hazelnut praline, all cut through by a laser-like seam of acidity. Aszu berries are macerated for two days until swollen, followed by a gentle press. Fermentation occurs in new Hungarian oak barrels, a slow process lasting up to two months. The ageing process is completed in 136 and 2200-litre barrels for two to three years and bottled for another year. Rich and intense on the palate with a long aftertaste of orange blossom and spices.

Winery | In 1993, the Alvarez family of Vega Sicilia fame established Bodegas Tokaj Oremus. The vineyards are spread over more than a dozen different hillside sites, of which ten were classified ‘primæ classis’ in 1803. The group can produce exceptional white wines, dry Furmints and sweet Aszú styles, from 3 puttonyos to the mythical Eszencia. All present the region’s unique combination of succulence and tang and together showcase the amazing versatility of Furmint grown in this historic location. |
