Calabria remains one of Italy’s least developed regions, and it has only recently been relatively recently that modern winemaking techniques have been adopted. Librandi is a notable exception to this, and it was back in the 1950s that Rafaele Librandi and his two sons, Antonio and Sicodemoa, decided to take their family vineyards on a march towards modernity. Since then, they have not been afraid to incorporate external influences and employ the assistance of international experts without ever losing sight of what makes their wines distinctively Calabrian. òhis approach has seen them become the benchmark for the region.

Winery | Ciro represents the history and soul of the vines and wines of Calabria. Plains and hills just above the sea split into a great range of subareas, each with its character and peculiarities. Librandi has always been a family-run business: up to 2012, it was led by its founders, brothers Antonio and Nicodemo Librandi, and today, after Antonio’s passing, by Nicodemo, Raffaele, Paolo, Francesco, and Teresa Librandi. This is an important choice as Librandis is at the forefront of all the company’s activities, from vineyard management to wine sales. |
