- This wine is a full-bodied Roussanne that bursts with vibrant citrus and luscious melon notes, complemented by layers of stone fruit flavours that unfold over a creamy palate. The delightful wine leaves a lingering, zesty aftertaste. The Swartland region derives its name from the native "reposters" or rhino bush, which takes on a black hue ("Swart" in Afrikaans) during the summer months. The climate in this area is hot and dry, with temperatures averaging between 25°C to 35°C and an annual rainfall of 450mm to 600mm. Despite the arid conditions, the vineyards' high altitude creates a cool oasis. The vineyards prioritize minimal intervention and environmentally friendly farming practices, producing exceptional quality fruit from the 80% small bush vines, yielding an average of six tonnes per hectare.
The fruit was harvested from a single vineyard at optimal phenolic ripeness. The grapes were crushed, and the juice was fermented in second—and third-fill French oak barrels. The wine was left on the lees for 60 days, adding texture and complexity to the palate; it was then racked and transferred back to the barrels for further ageing for six months before being filtered and bottled.
A full-bodied Rousanne bursting with bright citrus and melon notes, it is layered with stone fruit flavours over a creamy palate and has a delicious, zesty aftertaste.

Winery | The Swartland name originates from a description of the Indigenous Rhino bush, which appears to turn black ("Swart" in Afrikaans) during the summer months. This hot, dry climate has an average temperature range of 25°C to 35°C and an annual rainfall of 450 mm and 600mm, but the altitude of these vineyards creates a cool oasis in this arid landscape. Minimal intervention and environmentally friendly farming practices are paramount. 80% of the vineyards are small bush vines with an average yield of six tonnes per hectare; the fruit quality is exceptional. |
