  • This refreshing 100% Godello combines delicate floral notes with citrus fruit, smoke, and creamy mineral tones. Harmoniously balanced with savoury nuances on the palate through a crisp, elegant finish.

The grapes were whole bunch pressed and static settled for 48 to 72 hours. Fermentation started naturally with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel vats, with selected yeasts towards the end of fermentation. Halfway through fermentation, the wine was racked to 2,500-litre French foudres, where it spent 10 months maturing in a combination of new and 4-year-old barrels. The wine was racked off its lees once a month; the lees helped to prevent oxidation, keeping the wine fresh rather than adding volume.

The DO Valdeorras is an inland Galician appellation in northern Spain, becoming renowned for its white wines from the Godello grape. The grapes for Mais Ala come from 40-year-old vines grown on trellises in ‘A Falcoeira’ in the O Bibei subzone. The small plots are located on the mountainside at an altitude of 600 to 650 metres, on steep slopes, where cooler nights encourage the natural acidity, resulting in a fresh style of wine. Granitic soils nourish the vines, specifically the local decomposed granitic soil known as 'sábrego’. Plant cover crops keep the soil healthy and maintain biodiversity. The vines are cultivated with natural preparations to reduce phytosanitary treatments. The vineyard is cultivated as sustainably and ecologically as possible, provided the weather conditions allow. Organic products, such as copper and natural extracts,s are used in the first instance, but traditional preparations are used if necessary. Vineyard management and harvesting takes place manuall.y
